Otherwise a bright copy.


An uncommon and charming educational book. Starting with a large alphabet, this reading manual contains grammar lessons, spelling rules and a long history of France. The six engraved plates, colored with a blue wash contain 36 (six per page) circular portraits of the Kings of France from Pharamon to Louis XVIII. Not in OCLC or auction records.

He moved to Trenton and while there he published "In the School-Room" "a conventional and fragmentary treatment of educational methods, which achieved a wide popularity." - DAB.
