NUMBER 3 OF ONLY 15 COPIES, to include an extra, hand-colored bookplate for the Bibliophile. The regular edition of 95 copies contained only ten plates. The bookplates are for Elizabeth Friedlander, Erich M. Simon, Christian Laarsen, Richard E. Strothmann, Emil Orlik, Martin Domke (two plates) Max Ewald, Granino Korn and Max Ebers.

Simon, born in1892 in Kolberg (now Kolobrzeg, Poland), studied at the school attached to the Museum of Industrial Arts, Berlin. One of his teachers was Emil Orlik. In 1913 he moved to Paris. He designed posters, books and other illustrations for publishers including S. Fischer, Georg Müller, G. Kiepenheuer, and Erich Reiss.
