Mexico: Tipografia de Francsico Diaz de Leon, 1901. 20 pages of text plus a large folding map, two charts of the drainage of the Grand Canal and a cross section of the tunnel. 9 1/4 x 6 1/2 inches. Printed wrappers; covers quite soiled. (Item ID: 3847)

The large, folding map, mearues 30 x 25 inches, is titled: "Carta Hidrografica del Valle de Mexico" and shows the Grand Canal and tunnel in red. Started in the 1850's, the Grand Canal was considered officially finished by Porfirio Diaz in 1894, though it continued to expand.
The first Pan-American conference was held in Washington in 1889/90. The second was held in Mexico City in 1901/02, and this pamphlet was especially prepared for that meeting.
