Second edition, originally published in 1713. The French Protestant Church of Charleston was founded in approximately 1681 by about 450 Huguenot refugees fleeing persecution in France. The first Huguenot Church was built in 1687. There is still a French Protestant Church on that spot, though the present building dates from 1845.
