New York: William H. Murphy, circa 1850. With woodcut illustrations. Twelvemo (6 x 3 3/4 inches); pictorial pink wrappers; rear wrapper detached. (Item ID: 1995)

A fine clean copy with the usual odd pagination (as described on OCLC). The book starts on page 71 and continues to 134. There appears to be a page torn out and the final leaf is numbered 36/37. On the rear wrapper is a listing of the 48 songs included. The missing leaf contained "Whoop, Jam-bo-ree."

In 1842, E. P. Christy organized the Christy Minstrels which proved enormously popular throughout the 1860's, both ere and in England. An uncommon minstrel songster.
