First edition. Andrew Gregg Curtin (1817-1894) was Governor of Pennsylvania (1861 - 1867) and was very active during the Civil War, helping to raise 270 regiments for the Union Army. He became a representative to Congress from 1881 - 1887). This copy is inscribed to Christina Carpenter from her great aunt, K. W. Curtin, most likely the wife of Andrew Gregg
