First American edition. Dymond died in 1828 and left behind the above three essays in manuscript. They were originally published in London in an expensive, two volume edition. This is the first popularly priced edition and the first to include an index. Dymond was born at Exeter in 1796. His parents were highly esteemed members of the Society of Friends. In 1825 he founded an auxiliary peace society at Exeter. "His chief works 'Essays on the Principles of Morality...' was written against Paley's utilitarianism." - D.N.B.
